Rob Binkley to Advise Businesses on Fair Labor Standards Act Compliance

at Marshall County Chamber of Commerce Session

 

Lewisburg, TN (February 2x, 2014) Rob Binkley, recognized as one of the Best Lawyers® in America in the areas of employment and labor law, will speak on the topic “Businesses Beware: The FLSA Frenzy” during the Marshall County TN Chamber of Commerce Lunch and Learn program on Tuesday, March 11 at the Lewisburg campus of Columbia State Community College.  FLSA is the Federal Labor Standards Act, which is enforced by the U.S. Department of Labor.

 

“The current leadership of the Department of Labor has stepped up its enforcement efforts, and good faith efforts aren’t good enough anymore,” Binkley explained.  “Even minor violations can be expensive.  Private enforcement actions are on the increase. When businesses are found liable for FSLA violations, they are required to pay double the actual damages, court fees, and the plaintiff’s attorney fees, as well as their own legal fees.”

 

Binkley will discuss specific areas of concern for businesses, as well as steps they can take to stay in compliance with the law.

Binkley is a partner in the Jackson, TN office of Rainey, Kizer, Reviere & Bell, PLC (Rainey Kizer), where he chairs the firm’s Employment Law Practice Group and is a member of the firm’s Tort and Insurance Practice Group.  He joined Rainey Kizer in 1986, shortly after receiving his Doctorate of Jurisprudence from the University of Tennessee College of Law.
