Tennessee Workers’ Compensation Bureau’s Educational Conference
James Thompson, member of the law firm of Rainey, Kizer, Reviere & Bell, PLC, gave a presentation today at the Tennessee Workers’ Compensation Bureau’s Educational Conference. Thompson spoke to claims representatives, case managers, attorneys, and the Bureau’s mediators and judges on “Handling Claims with Self-Represented Claimants.” His discussion gave an explanation of the unique roles of the various players in a work injury claim and how each of the players could contribute to success at all the touchpoints of a claim through improvements in communication, explanation of the process and procedures involved in a claim, and the reasoning for a claim’s handling from initial investigation to resolution. Thompson, a long-term participant in the Bureau’s annual conferences, noted that he appreciated the opportunity to discuss and present on this topic: “We all want to help get claims concluded. This is a great time to discuss best practices and available resources to help claimants—new to the Workers’ Comp system—understand the process and reach a successful resolution of their benefits claim.” Thompson practices in the areas of insurance defense, workers’ compensation for employers and their insurers, and general employment law counseling for employers. He is a frequent speaker at employment and workers’ compensation conferences.
