Jerry practiced with his Uncle, John Kizer, for 3 years in Milan, Tn. He then moved to Jackson, Tn. and practiced with his good friend, Tom Rainey at the firm of Spragins, Menzies and Rainey until January 1, 1975, when Jerry, Tom, and Roger Menzies were founding members of this Firm which was named Menzies, Rainey & Kizer. This Firm started with 4 lawyers in one location. In the 50 years since, the Firm has grown to 60 lawyers in 7 locations. The core values of the Firm have not changed in 50 years.
Jerry has had an active litigation practice for many years and tried hundreds of both jury and bench trials, concentrating in medical malpractice defense.

              

In over 57 years of continuous law practice, Jerry has tried hundreds of cases (jury and non jury) representing physicians, hospitals, nurses, clinics, other healthcare providers in healthcare liability cases and representing insurance companies, trucking companies, corporations, businesses, and individuals in a variety of other types of cases.

Interests

In his time away from the courtroom and his office, Jerry tries to spend quality time with Martha, his wife of 58 years, three daughters, their husbands and five grandchildren. He loves to hike, travel, wing shoot, compete at duplicate bridge, and watch British mysteries with his wife. Jerry and Martha attend First Presbyterian Church of Jackson where he serves as an Elder.
