Marty Phillips to Speak at 2013 Medical Malpractice Conference for Tennessee Attorneys

Nashville, TN (April 2, 2013) – Marty Phillips, a partner in the Medical Malpractice Defense Practice Group at Rainey, Kizer, Reviere & Bell PLC (Rainey Kizer), will be a featured speaker at the 2013 Medical Malpractice Conference for Tennessee Attorneys, scheduled for April 3 at the Nashville School of Law.  Phillips’ topic will be “Preparing for and Taking Depositions.”

According to the conference organizers, the depositions of parties and key witnesses are of paramount importance in medical malpractice cases. They note that a case can be won or lost in a deposition.  Conference participants will receive 7.5 hours of Continuing Education Credits.

Phillips has significant experience representing clinics, hospitals, physicians, and nurses in medical malpractice actions. He also has significant experience in general civil litigation. He is the author of “The Admissibility of Failing the Board Certification Exam,” published by the Defense Research Institute. In addition, he is a Fellow of the Tennessee Bar Foundation and has been selected by his peers for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America® in the specialty of Medical Malpractice Law.

Phillips is a member of the Medical Malpractice Defense Practice Group at Rainey Kizer. He has been associated with the Firm since receiving his Doctor of Jurisprudence in 1991 from the University of Tennessee College of Law.

In law school, Phillips was on Law Review, a member of the Order of Barristers, and a member of the University of Tennessee Constitutional Law Moot Court Team. Mr. Phillips received the Best Oralist Award at the constitutional law moot court national competition, the Vinson & Elkins Award for proficiency in moot court, the Advocates Prize, and the Am Jur Award for Trial Practice.
