Rainey, Kizer, Reviere & Bell PLC attorneys (from left) Tim Wehner, Michael Mansfield, and Rob Binkley, attended the 50th Annual Jackson-Madison County NAACP Freedom Fund Banquet held May 26 at the Carl Perkins Civic Center. James Meredith, the first African American to attend the University of Mississippi and a pioneering leader of the Civil Rights Movement, was the event’s keynote speaker.
The banquet’s co-chairwomen were Virginia Stackens Crump and Helen Owens. The program included a tribute to civil rights activist Dr. Ernest Brooks Sr., who died in 2012, and recognition of Jackson and Madison County Legends in the fight for racial equality.
